    WFMI in Alabama is always packed - always, even today as we speak and as the market goes every which way.... It seems almost to be a bit of a refuge, one just feels better in there... It's at a major discount now and, please - a Kroger, Wal Mart, Safeway, A&P, Publix... are NOT equals to WF. No way. I can't "techically" shop there based on strict economics, but like many, I do. It's just a great place. Again, check the parking lots....

    I still feel that we are seeing a great deal of health food concepts and that people in most cases are choosing to eat healthy. Reply

Is there any one looking at their product, produce and their super smart invention they brought to the world 365. ok where was this products produced, what kind of genetic modifications (No Seed) and how long ago? yeah USDA stamp on, but that doesn't mean anything. we only see the big picture, people take a Sec and think about it.......... I'd look closely at Whole Foods.

    Upscale people set the trend, organic food will eventually be for everyone.

    Cool article. Unfortunately being a SAGA company doesn't necessarily equate to a bullish future. I'd say the advantages are already priced into the stocks which then makes you wonder where should you put your money?

    In particular BBBY is a short. Earnings forecast from the next conference call in less than 2 weeks will be either at or below expectations. The stock above $30 is priced to perfection already. Reply

    selene,

    im not sure the author is making the case that Whole Foods is the only place to get healthy foods. I think he just used it as an example. his point is that generally health food and proprietors of health food should do well regardless of the economy. at least, thats how I understood the article.

    Disagree STRONGLY with the implication that you have to shop at WFMI to get healthy food. Reply

    "While there may be a reflexive reaction to an economy in recession, over the long haul society has made its decision to live a healthier lifestyle."

    I fully agree with that statement. Society has surely started to take a step in the right direction, for a better life. It also helps from a financial perspective;

    you may be paying a little more for healthy food, but you will be saving LOTS more in healthcare costs in the future.

    I wonder if 'cutting back' is just 'not throwing out' ?

    In other words, leftovers are now eaten, thereby cutting back on the amount of groceries purchased weekly.

    Agree with this. Definitely folks have been cutting back around the edges. But the bigger picture is that it's not a "craze" - it's a way of life, and it's been my family's way of live for 20 years...

    So two decades is secular, not cyclical. It will come back, but will take time, as with everything.
