  • Monday 9:53 AM Archer Consulting sees the premium that arabica coffee commands over robusta beans falling by 50% to its lowest level since 2009. While packaged sellers Kraft and J.M. Smucker have dropped prices already (I, II), mum is the word so far from Starbucks (SBUX +0.5%), Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR -1.8%), and Peet's Coffee & Tea (PEET -0.3%).

  • Friday 1:30 PM Coffee sellers such as Starbucks (SBUX +0.6%), Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR +1.1%) and Peet's Coffee & Tea (PEET +0.1%) may try to get some mileage out of a new paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine finding coffee drinkers without pre-existing medical conditions live longer than non-drinkers of the beverage. The conclusions from the 10-year study are also backed up in part by scientific analysis on the seemingly-positive effects of coffee on the risks of diabetes.
