RE: General Dynamics, seewww.crossprofit.com/vi...
The real story is that GD has $2.7B cash on hand. As per last quarter results, profits are up 25%. Current acquisition is a hedge against any reversal in the strong Gulfstream sales that is now entering its sixth year.
This is a logical move; providing services to all the aircraft GD sold over the past years. Also, enables GD to establish contact with owners of competitors aircraft. Crafty indeed!

Are you missing the story of the day? Appears that the roll over in equities has started for the autumn season, and that inflation will drive gold and silver to new highs. Dare we think that the US dollar is about to turn again? I think so since the Fed can not fight inflation with ending the chances of just a "slow down". The great story is the Silence of the Fed in the face of clear commodity driven inflation. They are powerless, or they have lost control!! ReplyWall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [view article]

PC as a platform is transitioning from transaction based gaming to subscription and micro-transaction based gaming, with ARPU per game shrinking significantly.Transaction based PC game sales are declining rapidly compare to their console counterparts. Reply
Inside NPD's July '08 Gaming Report [view article]
Why is it not mentioned here that the NPD report also states that PC's are still used for gaming more than any console? That's a pretty significant piece of information, no?Why the obsession solely with consoles? More can be done with a PC than with any console, PC's can be reconfigured much more easily and more often than any console and the range of game subjects and gameplay types is more varied for PC's than for any console. For some reason PC's are apparently seen as yesterday's tech. Yet by almost any measure available, PC's represent the most flexible of the lot... It's very strange to me.

Yes, and E for Everyone is a different rating than E10+ Everyone 10+. Another up and coming company in the video game arena. SDVI.PK owns Graffiti Entertainment ReplyElectronic Arts: Growth is Coming [view article]
why not invest in both EA and ATVI (and thq, ubi, ttwo, ntdoy...) you should have a spread on the entire sector. You can hate EA, but hate's an emotion, and you should invest with your head. ReplyElectronic Arts: Growth is Coming [view article]
if MMO is one of the sweet spot why not invest in Activision-Blizzard? ReplyElectronic Arts: Growth is Coming [view article]
Correction to my above article - I meant to say the DRM does not uninstall from pcs after an EA game is uninstalled.Thank you Reply

World of Warcraft does so well for Blizzard because Blizzard does not includ a crippling DRM with the software, which EA does now and claims to be putting on all their games, so it will be on the Online games too. EA's DRM is the surprised gift that just keeps on giving, even after their games are uninstalled. It has this particular habit of making some very good gaming machines, be far less a good pc after this DRM, that incidently resides on the Ring 0 = meaning the main command center where Operating Systems live, and continues to exist there making the owners game and work life difficult, as it does not install when an EA game is removed. Nevermind the fact everytime you go online it updates - linking to Sony DADC. Lord knows what it's sending those people, because I don't know, my logs are in encryption form. What I'd like to know is what business EA has putting this DRM on my pc, even though I have removed all of EA's software that has this DRM on it. So what is it sending, receiving and updating - as the games are gone! You get no help from EA other than the cost of a phone call to the tech help, a long wait on line, and in my case I got hung up on.
What I see for stockholders and people considering Erts stocks added to their portfolio, is a lot of trouble down the line when they do get all those gamers you speculate about with these 2 Online games, and they have some of the problems I encountered with my pc. Never mind the fact you have to reformat your harddrive, or live with it. It's your dollars people, because it's surely not going to be mine. At least not for the long haul anyway. Reply

I don't understand why people keep saying that TTWO has ONLY one franchise... Their sport titles are on average better than EA's and have recently released very successful titles (Bioshock, for instance). True, none of these is as popular as GTA, but which other gaming IP is?As I live in SE Asia I think I should do some clarification regarding Thailand. The local government has nothing to do with this story. It was simply a decision by the local distributor to withdraw the game. What happened was that an obviously insane teenager killed a taxi driver to see whether it was as easy as in the game. He will likely be sentenced to death. A very sad story but I guessed such a person would have killed someone anyway soon or later. Reply
