More Chili's (EAT) Locations Report Business Is Down

23% of Chili's locations report business is down from last year, up from 4% reporting a year-over-year drop in our March poll. 57% report an average tab for a party of two of $20-$30. The most popular menu items are the baby back ribs (27% of mentions), the Bottomless Express lunch (20%) and the Big Mouth bacon burger (13%).


Meat Lovers Pizza the Most Popular Menu Item at Pizza Hut (EAT)

Tickermine interviewed employees at various Pizza Hut restaurants around the country and found that dinner was the busiest time at sixteen (55%) restaurants compared to lunch at thirteen (45%) restaurants. The Meat Lovers pizza was the most popular item on the menu at nine (31%) restaurants, followed by the Pepperoni hand-tossed crust pizza (21%), the Ultimate Grill pizza (17%) and the lunch buffet (14%). Tuscani pastas were most popular at two (7%) restaurants. The most popular item had been on the menu for at least one year at nineteen (66%) restaurants. Specials included the Ultimate Grill pizza at fifteen (52%) restaurants and Tuscani pastas at eight (28%) restaurants. Fifteen (60%) reported that the restaurant was busier that week because of the specials offered. Of the twenty-nine Pizza Hut locations interviewed, twenty-seven (93%) had been open for over one year.

Domino's Pizza (DPZ) Stores Say Business is About the Same as Last Year

Domino's Pizza Inc., was surveyed by Tickermine this month. We asked which pizza deals were selling best, was the store busier, the same as or slower than last year and who was their most threatening competitor? 28 locations were consulted from around the US. The top deals that were mentioned this survey included: the 444 deal, 3 pizzas, $4 each, and the Pepperoni Feast. Most locations, 12 respondents or 43% of those polled, said that their business was the same compared with last year (this differs from a previous survey in which most respondents said that business was busier from a year ago). 10 respondents or 36% said the store was busier and six respondents or 21% said that their business had slumped. Papa John's Pizza was predominantly cited as the biggest threat to Domino's. Other companies mentioned included Pizza Hut and mom and pop stores such as Antonio's Pizza and Grinders.
